Day 6
When we have a map finding what we need is very easy. The stories we carry in our mind are like a map leading us though life. When use stories to help us make sense of the world and sometimes keep ourselves safe. We also use stories to make predictions about the future, like if I meet John tomorrow I must speak out and be strong. Through the creation of these stories we run in a sense a simulation about the future. What will happen, what we need to do and so forth. The data that our brain uses to support this future prediction is old data from the past. Therefore the simulation is infact predicting the past and not the future. So, if we change our stories from the past we will be better equipped to make better simulations of the future.
The stories we live are a support for us in life and if we lose our stories it could be very scary to us because it may feel like we are loosing our reality….our lives. The question may arise…..’what is the truth?’. This is a difficult situation because the stories keep us safe but also keep us in old patterns that do not support us to feel free and open.
If we feel stuck in our lives it is because we are living in old stories that keep us closed and the more we can let go of these old stories the open we will feel.
This is a summary of what Hunter spoke about this morning.
In the morning session we went to a workshop with Stephan and Sneh. The topic of this workshop was ‘How does the facilitator take care of themselves?’
Some of the more important points that came out of this workshop are:
- A facilitator must feel comfortable before they move into any piece of work
- A facilitator should always feel what is happening in their own body as well as what is happening in the clients body
- If you feel uncomfortable with the client….it is a good idea to set up you and the client first before you do any work to see what is the dynamic happening between the two of you. (ONLY USE THIS WHEN YOU ARE READY TO LOOK AT YOUR OWN PERSONLA WEAKNESS AS A FACILITATOR)
- Ritual to do at the end of a group has left: Say inwardly and do some kind of physical action to support your words…’I put everything down that belongs to the group and I leave behind what belong to the group.Be aware what supports you as a facilitator and what drains you
- Cut all threads between you and the client by the end of each constellation
- Enter into a contract with your client before you start working. What to set up is the most important part
- Always be authentic
- Show confidence by taking on the most difficult case first
- Connect with the group by saying; ‘we are doing this together’.
- Be honest with yourself and your limitations
- Check the environment
- Be flexible
To conclude, Stephan said that illness is being stuck, so for good health we need movement and he left us with the phrase; “A juice that stand still is not juice”
Thank you……it’s been an amazing journey which I hope you have enjoyed and felt some benefit from and I look forward to sharing more news in the next few days about the ISCA gathering.
Ciao for now.

The first few days I was just in awe of the depth of the experience and loved the place that it took me to. Being so present in my body and aware of its responses to the outside world is something that I constantly have to remain conscious of. It helps me stay out of my head and makes the difficult things easier to handle.- Workshop Participant
