The idea behind the creation of an Institute was set into motion in June 2008 when 5 facilitators (4 from Cape Town and 1 from Johannesburg) met in a quiet hotel lounge in Cape Town to discuss the urgent need for a support structure in South Africa. Out of this meeting came a couple of names and an enthusiasm to build an association in line with what was happening in Germany. Unfortunately the enthusiasm that sparked this meeting was not sustained and there was no further development.

What did remain though with the now founders Helen and Claudio Celestino was a deep desire and sense of need for some formal structure in South Africa. In May 2009 Helen and Claudio attended their 3rd Intensive training in Bernreid, Germany where they received resounding support and encouragement from many of the international colleagues and trainers. So, on returning home the Constellations Institute of South Africa (CISA) began to unfold, grow and manifest into what it is today.

Today what we have, is a website which has been designed to support, educate and promote Constellations Work throughout the country. The Institute currently offers Family Constellations in Cape Town and Johannesburg and Organisational Constellations. Through the Institute you can receive an Individual session, attend a workshop, seminar or Training. The Institute is young and new to South Africa and is still in a developmental phase. Using the metaphor of a young child, the Institute too has just arrived into the world and over the coming months and years will continue to grow and blossom into the vision set out by its founders.

The founders have set out to create a platform for all facilitator in the country and indeed from around the world to benefit from the information and services the Institute is offering and will offer into the future. 

The Constellations Institute of South Africa will strive, together with it's founders and members to continue to grow Family Constellations work in South Africa, reaching out to all parts of the country.

The Institute and it's founders would also like to acknowledge Bert Hellinger, Family Constellations Africa and the International Systemic Constellations Association for the most important contributions they have all made to the development of the field of Family Constellations work around the world and in South Africa.
